Welcome to the website of T.S. Sturdy, the Chichester Division of the Nautical Training Corps The Nautical Training Corps is a uniformed organisation spread across the south of England, catering for young people aged eight years and above. More information about the history, aims and objectives of T.S. Sturdy, and the NTC as a whole as a whole can be found on the History Page. Sturdy, along with TS Implacable (Littlehampton) and TS Intrepid (Lancing) make up the West Sussex South Region of the NTC. We welcome any young people who wish to join, as long as they are over 8 years of age. Unfortunately due to the severe demand we have had to instigate a waiting list for new recruits. Please see the New Recruits page for further details. We meet on a Wednesday night, which we call our 'Deck Night', between 7pm (1900) and 9pm (2100). We will have a range of things going on, depending on the time of year and our schedule. We may be in full uniform on a standard parade night, teaching classes concerning anything from marine navigation to survival techniques, uniform maintenance to first aid, communication skills to ropework and almost any subject in between. We may be in working rig (a more casual version of our uniform) playing games, or possibly doing rifle-shooting or archery. During the summer, we make the most of the light warm evenings, and may be outside on hikes, having barbecues or spending evenings swimming at the beach. In 2008 we celebrated our 30th Anniversary in which we held a series of events to mark our 30 years of service to the local area. |
