New Year, New Planner out now, 2010
Another year gone and another to look forward to. TS Sturdy have their year planner filled up with plenty of interesting and challenging activities / events for the cadets, which you can find and download inside the members area.

This year see's the band with more engagements, performing for the public in and around West Sussex. We also have a lot more Fundraising events for parents and cadets to get together and enjoy. Another fun packed year for the cadets of TS Sturdy.

Band Competition, 2009
Sunday 25th October, National Band Competition at Burgess Hill.

TS Sturdy was once again entering their band into the competition. Over the last two years we've had a very successful time, winning Contest Class twice in a row. The band thought it was time to take the plunge into the highest class, Championship Class, the very first time for the cadets of TS Sturdy.

With a new routine and five new tunes (Howards Way, Eye Level, Portsmouth, Cherry Pink and Part of your World) we were ready for our performance. 12 minutes surprisingly went quickly and with the routine and the music going well, despite the nerves, we left the arena with our heads held high.

Presentation came and in our class we came third, an excellent achievement for the band members. What was more encouraging was we were only 6 points away from 2nd so well done to all the cadets. Next year we will stay in Championship, and who knows it could just be our year....

C
orps Commodore, 2009
It is with immense sadness that we have to announce the death of the Corps Commodore, Mr Smith. A wonderful human being, a good friend to all, and a dignified leader of the Nautical Training Corps for many years.
It is a great loss and he will be sadly missed by the vast numbers who have met him. Our heatfelt condolences go to his wife and his family.

TS Sturdy celebrates 30 years of youth service for West Sussex, 2008
On the 30th September 1978 TS Sturdy opened their doors for the very first time bringing a new youth service to the city of Chichester. Since then as you can imagine, hundreds of faces have come and gone, all hopefully remembering at least one good memory.

Year in year out, TS Sturdy has had a huge number of cadets on board, (the lack of technology in 1978 may of played a big part in that), and now a days we currently have around 15 to 20 cadets.

The military band of TS Sturdy was formed in 1987 competing in their very first Nautical Training Corps Band Competition in the same year. Being placed into Novice Class they came second (not bad for their first year). The band is still going strong and still competing in the Nautical Training Corps Band Competition, with the band competing in Contest Class in 2007 and came first.

For 30 years, TS Sturdy has always had fun and challenging activities for all our cadets. Ranging from camps to kayaking and archery to Christmas Yule log making.
You can see more about our activities here.

For all these years we've given an exciting and knowledgeable service to West Sussex and hopefully we can continue this for another thirty years.
