Welcome to the official TS Tenacity Web page STOP PRESS: First Officer Zena
Stembridge has stepped down as Commanding Officer. Commander Roy Cook,
Hampshire Regional Commander, will be Acting CO until a successor is
appointed. All communications to Molly Jones, SMC Treasurer (
signal@ntc.org.uk ). TS Tenacity has struggled a bit this year following the vandalism of our minibus and the subsequent rise in the cost of its insurance. Being only a small ship we therefore had to work extra hard to raise more funds to keep afloat. Some of the cadets went to Avon Tyrell camping in August, where they enjoyed a week of activities including raft-building, Hi & Lo rope challenge, trust walking and swimming to name a few. The band has been out and about entertaining at local carnivals and fetes, as well as our usual Regional Day at Southsea Castle Field where we have the “lion's share” from the car-booters thanks to Jack Trickett who organises the day for us. November was a busy month, with the ship taking part in Porchester Remembers, in The Precinct, and HMS Hornet, with the Coastal Forces, whilst the band led the procession for the Remembrance Service at Stubbington. Then the band did its usual Christmas fund-raiser, playing Carols at various venues in the area. March came and some of the cadets joined the rest of the Hampshire Region for a Colour Course held at Unity. All passed even though they are not yet old enough to carry Colours in public. They will continue training until they are! In April, the cadets helped the Coastal Forces Veterans Association with their AGM at Bracklesham Bay Holiday Village. The cadets assist showing the veterans to their rooms and carry their baggage for them. They also assist at the meetings held and Colours and Sunset each day. This year there was no room for the cadets to stay on site, so we took over the Youth Club at nearby East Wittering and "camped“ inside, travelling the mile or so each day. This was by far the most exhausting time as we were all up at 0530 each day, working all day with the veterans and falling into sleeping bags around midnight, yet the cadets volunteer every year! |
